Sophomore center Scott Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) netted two goals while junior defenseman Brent Grimm (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) chipped in with three assists as the Bearcats improved to 21-14-1 overall. Since Nov. 11, McKendree has won 15 of its last 17 games. The Bearcats will wrap up the 2005-06 regular season Saturday on the road against Lindenwood University. Face-off is set for 1 p.m. in Wentzville, Mo.

      Against SIU-Edwardsville, the host Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period before McKendree roared back with seven unanswered goals. Sophomore center/wing Kyle Ilges (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) got the comeback started with a power-play goal six minutes into the second to cut the deficit to 3-1. Goals by sophomore defenseman Matt Defranco (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania/) (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) and freshman wing Z.T. Evans (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) tied the contest at 3-3 before junior wing Brian Neighbors (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) gave McKendree the lead for good early in the third period.

      Junior wing Ryan Haeffele (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) pushed the Bearcats’ lead to 5-3 before Roberts tallied twice in the final eight minutes.

      Junior Marcus Power (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) made 26 saves for his 10^th victory of the season in goal for McKendree. Power is 10-8-0 in 19 starts this season for the Bearcats.
